Overview The Integrated Master in Biological Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico was created in 2007/2008 as a result of the adjustment of the Bolonha Process to the degree in Biological Engineering, which had been running at IST since 1997/1998. The number of graduates in Biological Engineering of the last 10 years currently exceeds the 350. The training offered at IST is accredited by the Portuguese society for engineering professionals ("Ordem dos Engenheiros", OE) and by the European Network for Accreditation of Engineering Education (EUR-ACE).ObjectivesThe aim of the Integrated MSc programme in Biological Engineering (MIEB) is to train engineers to fill leadership positions in Biological Engineering and related areas. The high quality and up to date training facilitates the exchange of students with other Schools in Europe and the mobility of the future engineers within the global marketplace. The central characteristics of the MIEB are:a sound, cross-disciplinary and updated academic training in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering Sciences,a multi- and cross-disciplinary training in diverse fields including Environment and Energy, Medical Bioengineering, Food Engineering, Industrial Management, Nanobiotechnology, Bioinformatics, Systems Biology and Tissue and Cell Culture Engineering,a transversal training that stimulates and promotes the development of skills like autonomy, analytical and critical thinking, flexibility, creativity, adaptability, time management and team work,a training that is accredited by the portuguese society for engineering professionals.EmploymentAgro-food, Environment and Water Management, Bioenergy, Industrial Biotechnology, Technological and Management Consulting, Cosmetic and Pharmaceutical Industry, Scientific Research and technological Development, Intelectual propety and Regulation, Health (Biomedicine, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, Services).

The Biological Engineering programme from Instituto Superior Técnico will help you use the background training in Biology, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Engineering to find solutions to technical and scientific problems in interface areas between Biology with Engineering.
