    Overview ObjectivesIndeed, students in the Law programme of the University of Porto learn a range of theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of law, which is useful and absolutely essential to their future performance in any legal profession.These goals are consistent with the mission and strategy of the University of Porto and fall within the experience of the Law School throughout its existence, as the study cycle is aimed at developing specific skills and transferable competencies, and foster the diffusion of knowledge.Professional AbilitiesThe curricular plan of the degree in Law covers the strategic areas considered fundamental to train qualified professionals for the exercise of many legal professions.Employment ProspectsProfessional status, according to the rules enforced: Advocacy, ruled by Bar Association, Registers and Notary, Judgeship ruled by Centro de Estudos Judiciários, Diplomacy ( ruled by Ministry for Foreign Affairs), Criminal Investigation Department, Public Administration Advanced Technician, Jurisconsult, University Career.     The general objectives of the Law programme of the University of Porto are to provide comprehensive training base, to instill basic frameworks for thought and reasoning, and give students the "know-how" students will need in the labour market to recognize social phenomena lacking legal intervention and to determine the legal pathway(s) to solve them, and the ability to act accordingly.
