Overview Facts about this program :It has shaped and benefited humanity immensely, and continues to help us understand the universe and bring about social and technological progress. Our Masters in Mathematics programme at University of Granada enjoys a great deal of prestige internationally, and the mathematics department at the UGR is considered one of the most renowned both in Spain and in Europe. Indeed, the UGR is currently ranked among the top 76-100 universities in the world in mathematics (Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities or ARWU 2014). The course is jointly offered by the universities of Almeria, Cadiz, Malaga, and Granada (the course coordinator), and it is designed to enable you to learn and develop new techniques and skills within the field of mathematics. Research in mathematics at the UGR surpasses that of any other Spanish university, both in production and in citations. Our programme therefore opens up a world of opportunities. It is designed to enable you to apply analytic and problem-solving skills to diverse interdisciplinary areas, such as experimental science, the social sciences, engineering, finance (and so on).As a student on our course you will have the chance to study a range of subjects, such as Advanced Mathematical Analysis, Advanced Differential Geometry, Advanced Functional Analysis, Mathematics Teaching and Learning, Software in Mathematics, and Mathematics Applied to Computer Programming (it is important to note that this is not a comprehensive list of course subjects and modules: please consult the programme homepage below for a comprehensive and fully up-dated list of course subjects and modules). Our graduates enjoy a high employability rate, and go on to work in a number of different areas, including teaching, the ICT industry, banking, finance, insurance, consultancy firms, science, education, research, public administration and the industrial sector. Mathematicians are versatile in the job market and are highly sought-after, mainly due to their excellent analytical and quantitative skills, their ability for logical reasoning, flexible and abstract thinking and, above all, their ability for problem solving. Aside from practical considerations, mathematics is an exciting and challenging discipline that continues to develop and evolve. Applying mathematics to resolve real-world problems can be hugely satisfying. You could be part of developing a new branch of mathematics, or finding a practical purpose for an abstract theory. The Mathematics program offered at University of Granada is the abstract science which uses deductive reasoning to study numerical, structural and spatial relations. Through the use of abstraction and logic, mathematics developed from counting, calculation, measurement and the systematic study of the shapes and motions of physical objects.
