Overview Study programmeThe Sociology programme of the University of Amsterdam is a three-year full-time degree programme of 180 ECTS, with an average study load of 40 hours a week. In your first year you will have about eight hours of lectures and six hours of tutorial groups per week; the remaining time will be devoted to reading literature, doing research and writing papers and essays.Is Sociology for you?Are you interested in society, in how people live together, and in the causes and consequences of their behaviour? Then Sociology is definitely for you.Various themes are addressed, such as: migration, inequality, sexuality, discrimination, healthcare, the labour market, education, urban problems and globalisation.After graduationDuring your bachelor you gain insight into pressing social issues, and you learn to improve them with your own policy solutions. A perfect preparation for the labour market! Society is always in need for sociologists, because they have the knowledge and skills to deal successfully with social problems we are facing today. Why do some people fly over the world in a private jet, while others don't even have enough money to buy food? What is institutional racism and what can be done about it? How are lives affected by social media? Apparently, a life filled with social experiences, does not make you an expert on social life. To become one, you have to study in the Sociology programme of the University of Amsterdam.

1يجب على الطلاب المتقدمين لأحد برامج البكالوريوس لدينا أن يكونوا حاصلين على دبلومة VWO الهولندية، أو HBO Propedeuse أو دبلومة أجنبية تعادل إحدى هذه الدبلومات. إذا كان لديك أوراق اعتماد أجنبية، فيجب إدراج الرياضيات واللغة الإنجليزية في الامتحان النهائي الخاص بك أو حضورهما حتى السنة الأخيرة من تعليمك الثانوي. إن مستوى البدء في برنامج الدراسة المنتظم في الجامعات الهولندية يشبه مستوى دول أوروبا الغربية الأخرى، لكنه أعلى عمومًا مما هي عليه في معظم البلدان خارج أوروبا الغربية. يجب أن يكون الطلاب قادرين على قراءة الكتب المدرسية، وفهم المحاضرات، والمشاركة في المناقشات الصفية، والقيام بأعمال كتابية باللغة الإنجليزية. ولذلك يتعين على المتقدمين تقديم دليل على الكفاءة الكافية في اللغة الإنجليزية (الإطار الأوروبي المرجعي المشترك للغات (CEFR): المستوى C1).
