    Overview Statistics and Operations Research, as quantitative tools, are necessary for the economic and social sectors of Europe. Graduates with a PhD in Statistics and/or Operations Research can contribute to the development of the country working in sectors such as industry, business, health, government, pharmaceutics, logistics, energy, consulting, and telecommunications.Our PhD program focuses on the following objectives:The scientific and technical training in the fields of Statistics and Operations Research of students from numerical disciplines (Degrees in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Sciences, etc.) and others related to the bio-medical or social sectors (Degrees in Biology, Economics, etc), holding a MSc in Statistics and Operations Research.Development of the ability to create, design, implement and perform research in Statistics and/or Operations Research.To perform an original research which expands the frontiers of knowledge, deserving publications at international level.The training of professors and researchers in Statistics and Operations Research.To achieve these objectives the PhD program promotes:International dissemination.The invitation to national and international renowned professors and researchers, to teach courses and to impart seminars.Collaboration with the business and industrial sectors through agreements and industrial PhDs.     The PhD program was started during the academic year 1989-1990 under the name "PhD Program in Technical and Computing Applications of Statistics, Operations Research and Optimization." Since the academic year 2005-2006 it is named "PhD Program in Statistics and Operations Research."
