We offer an exciting range of General English courses for all levels, from beginner to proficiency, and to suit different budgets. We also offer timetables that give you the flexibility to choose a course that best suits your needs. 

Our core class is an integrated skills class. It covers reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and vocabulary. In this class, you'll improve your accuracy (how correct your English is) and fluency (how well you can communicate). Lessons have daily and weekly objectives so you know what you’ll learn and how you’ll learn it. Our teachers provide you with regular assessments that allow you to keep track of your progress. We use the Communicative Approach, so you'll learn English by using English—not by listening to grammar lectures and doing worksheets. We feel strongly that this is the most effective method to acquire English that students can use in the real world. 

The Syllabus for each level is mapped to the CEFR levels A1-C2. The levels define what you can do and Stafford House believes that language is for communication. Each of our Core Class Course Books is also mapped to the CEFR providing a consistent basis for developing your language skills.

At Bell, you can add 5 or 10 hours of skills to your weekly studies, so that you can concentrate on improving areas in your language development that may be a little more challenging for you. You can select one or a combination of 3 different types of skills to focus on: reading and writing, exam preparation, or speaking and listening skills. 

We recognise that every learner is unique. That is why our skills module is expertly-designed to adapt to your learning needs – giving you responsive teaching, personalised learning, and better support overall. 

We will support you to choose which skills you would like to focus on, so you do not need to choose until you are at Bell – your teacher will have a good idea of the best options to help you excel.

General English Plus Skills - Cambridge

Develop an understanding of business theory and develop useful skills that will sharpen your approach to business. 

You will explore core principals across a range of topics, like business management, entrepreneurship, motivating and managing people or marketing – calling on real-life examples and case studies of businesses to support your learning. You will also gain insights from regularly hosted business talks with local entrepreneurs and businesses, and visit cross-sector businesses in the local area.

Super Intensive Course

Our IELTS Preparation courses are designed to get you the IELTS level you need, by the date that you need it. IELTS preparation at Stafford House is ideal for students who require a specific IELTS level for university entrance and are available at all Stafford House schools. 

The Stafford House IELTS Preparation course is for students who want to take the IELTS Academic Exam. These courses are designed for students at the intermediate level and above and aim to develop your English skills and improve your exam technique in preparation for the IELTS Exam. 

You will follow an objective-based course structure where your teacher will work with you to determine what IELTS level you need to achieve and identify which skills, techniques, and exam areas you need to develop to reach your goal. 

Every week, as part of your classes, you will study IELTS past papers, focussing on areas of the exam that you need to improve. Throughout your study at Stafford House your teacher and the academic team will monitor your progress and offer you feedback. 

Once a month you will get a report and a one-to-one session with an academic manager to discuss your skills, progression, and exam readiness to ensure you are on track.

When you have specific areas you find particularly challenging in your language learning, having 1-to-1 support and tuition from a dedicated teacher can be very beneficial. 

Together, you and your tutor will identify specific language areas and skills to improve and create a bespoke study plan, using suitable learning materials for the focus you have chosen. 

Our 1-to-1 tuition are highly flexible and responsive, so you are in full control of how you would like to plan these in to your overall learning experience.
