APPLIED ENGLISH - TURKISH TRANSLATION (in English)

Our Mission

Applied English Turkish Translation Department provides both theoretical and practical training to effectively use foreigh language in various sectors.

The department allows students to practice provided the cooperation with solution partners especially abroad.

1. Graduates of the program will be able to translate literary works, texts, scientific articles, newspapers and magazines, political, legal, economic, technical and other types of works into the target language.

2.In written translation, students can translate the texts into another language keeping the cohesion and correctness of the expression of the text, review the translations done, follows updates in his/her mother tongue and the foreign language.

3. Students are able to operate any office equipment (typewriter, computer, fax) and can communicate effectively.

Our Vision:

Creative, Practical, Self-Confident Professional Translators having business ethics, are aimed to be educated in our program.

1. Acceptance Letter received from Istanbul Aydin University
2. Turkish translation of High school diploma and transcript
3. Notarization of translated High school diploma and transcript from Notary in Turkey or Turkish Embassy in your country
4. Health Insurance for one year (compulsory – You will make your insurance paperwork in J Block with International Students and Staff Affairs. Insurance Costs between 400,00 to 600,00 TRL)
5. Equivalency Paper (Denklik Belgesi) of High school diploma from Provincial Directorate of Ministry of Education in Istanbul (you will be guided properly on this once you will reach Istanbul Aydin University International Office J - Block)
6. Language Proficiency Certificate
7. Health Insurance for one year (compulsory– You will make your insurance paperwork in J Block with International Students and Staff Affairs.

Our graduates can work at various public institutions (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Tourism), publishing houses, magazines, newspapers, film studios, international organizations, simultaneous and written translation offices, TRT, Anadolu Agency, private TVs, and those who have certificate of translation can work at translation offices.

Department Opportunities:

1. Our department enables our students to continue their Bachelor of Arts education in related departments easily.

2. By Erasmus Exchange Program, Students, are able to have their one semester education in European countries.

1. Passport photograph
2. High school diploma (a copy translated to Turkish or English)
3. High school transcript (a copy translated to Turkish or English)
4. Photocopy of the relevant pages of your passport
5. 60 % marks (min) in High School
6. For English degree program applicants: TOEFL score -79 points
   (If English is not the first/ official language of the country). 
   (If students do not have TOEFL then he/ she has to qualify English Proficiency Exam, which will be held in IAU. Dates will be mentioned at http://int.aydin.edu.tr)
7. For Turkish degree program applicants: TOMER B1 level required.
8. Dentistry and Medicine applicants: TOMER C1 level required.
