Associate Degree of Engineering (Mechatronic & Robotic Engineering)

    About

    • What do robotic arms, self-driving cars, smartphones, robotic vacuum cleaners, drones and space exploration have in common? They are all innovative solutions utilising principles of mechatronic and robotic engineering. Kick-start the skills you need for a career in this transformative space at UniSQ.
    • This major will cover topics across mechanical, electronic and computer engineering principles. Guided by our renowned academics, you will delve into the fundamental principles of motion, and the foundations of building mechatronic systems.
    • Explore electronic components, circuit analysis and design, signals, filters, schematics, simulation tools and legislative frameworks. You will be introduced to engineering statistics and stress analysis, as well as the creation of technical documents.
    • Learn from experienced industry professionals, committed to inspiring you in your learning. Be ready to innovate and create for today and influence the trajectory of technology for the future at UniSQ – the only institution in Queensland offering mechatronics and robotics courses as part of an Associate Degree in Engineering.
    • Understand more about how this field of engineering can improve efficiencies in industries, optimise processes, increase safety, deploy precise and accurate tasks and drive innovation by pushing the boundaries of what is possible.
    • Gain hands-on experience during on-campus residential school courses and 30 days of work experience in industry and be ready to graduate as an Engineering Associate (application through Engineers Australia) to embark on your engineering career.
    • The Associate Degree is an ideal start to your future in engineering, providing the perfect stepping stone for further study into the Bachelor of Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)

    Further study

This degree is a great stepping stone to our Bachelor of Engineering Technology or Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) where you will be credited for your studies already undertaken in the Associate Degree of Engineering.

    Professional accreditation

When you graduate with your Associate Degree, you’ll be eligible for full accreditation with Engineers Australia. Apply for membership after you graduate to become an Engineering Associate and with the experience you will gain from working in the field, you can apply for chartered status as an Engineering Associate.
