Mission of the Department
The mission of the department is to raise audiologists who possess an extensive scientific understanding and knowledge about the basic approaches and sub-fields of audiology. The individual must embrace the multidisciplinary perspective of this field, emphasizing on research and development and realize the necessity of lifelong learning. He must appreciate the ethical values involved in the profession, be aware of the history and the culture of the society and meet the ever-changing needs of the population.
An audiologist is a health care professional or an assistant involved in normal hearing and balance functions of the body, diagnosis of hearing loss and balance disorders. He also follows the treatment and rehabilitation process as well as informs the patient and the concerned physician.
Audiology includes applications for assessment and identification of hearing and balance disorders with diagnostic testing methods specific to their area and provides the necessary support, including appropriate device selection and implementation, rehabilitation and follow-up, depending on the identified disorder.
The aim of the departmnet is to train advanced individuals who have sufficient theoretical knowledge and skills in the field, who can do all the diagnostic tests and applications in the best possible manner, communicate with the hearing impaired individuals, actively participate in their education, respect human rights and possess social responsibility and awareness regarding these individuals.
