    An overview of the program and its main subjects:

    Teaching in the Department of Jurisprudence and its foundations began with the launch of the School of Sharia in 1971, and it carried the name Jurisprudence and Legislation, and the department continued to bear this name until the academic year 1994/1995, when the name was chosen to be Jurisprudence and its foundations. Since its establishment, the department has included the finest scholars of this noble Sharia, which made it occupy a prestigious scientific position among its counterparts in Arab and Islamic universities, and even occupy the most prominent position in terms of the advanced scientific level enjoyed by its graduates, so that the department has become the focus of attention of students of knowledge who wish to study Islamic jurisprudence. In fact, it occupies the most prominent position in terms of the advanced scientific level enjoyed by its graduates until the department became the focus of attention of students of knowledge who wish to study Sharia jurisprudence, and the high scientific level achieved by the department prompted many Arab and Islamic universities to direct students towards joining the scientific programs offered by the department. The department focuses on scientific knowledge in the fields of jurisprudence and its foundations in building a Muslim in religiously, developing the jurisprudential capacity, and qualifying students to work in the fields of leading prayers, fatwa, preaching, education, and media.

    Program vision:

    Qualifying a generation in terms of practical jurisprudence, promoting the development of the student's jurisprudential knowledge, and providing the labor market with trained jurisprudential staff in the fields of leading prayer, preaching, fatwa, media, and education.

    Program mission:

    Qualifying Sharia students capable of supporting society in Sharia related fields and guiding it towards values and virtues.​

    Program goals:

    1. Teaching Islamic Studies in a way that combines belonging to the roots and keeping pace to the era and is consistent with the higher objectives of Sharia.
    2. Seeking to improve educational performance in Islamic Studies.
    3. Calling to Islam by elucidating its principles, demonstrating its truths, and refuting the doubts directed against it.
    4. Serving the local, Arab and Islamic community by preparing qualified staff capable of carrying the noble message of Islam with honesty and sincerity.
    5. Connecting the Ummah's present with its heritage and Islamic civilization.
    6. Developing virtuous values and good morals by following the Islamic approach in thought, word and deed.
    7. Preparing a qualified Muslim capable of achieving reform, facing challenges and obstacles, and fulfilling the duty of calling to Allah Almighty.
    8. Qualifying a generation of teachers who are capable of understanding the higher objectives of Sharia and following authentic educational curricula and instilling them in the souls of students.
    9. Providing the Supreme Judge Department with qualified staff to work in the Sharia courts and the Sharia judiciary.
    10. Qualifying a generation of speakers and preachers capable of delivering the message of Islam, explaining its principles, clarifying its concepts and explaining its rulings.
    11. Preserving the Islamic identity of the nation and defending its culture.

    Entrance Requirements:
    Students are admitted to the program after they pass the higher secondary exam (Tawjihi) held by the Ministry of Education and according to the grade requirements set by the Higher Education Council/ Unified Acceptance Coordination Unit, and this is in accordance with the Bylaws and Regulations of the University of Jordan in regular and international courses of study
