About this degree programme

Our BSc (Hons) Finance, Investment & Risk is a specialist degree programme. It teaches the core elements of investment, financial analysis, and risk management that underpin sound decision-making. 

You can study this degree programme over three years or four, depending on whether you want to include a one-year industry placement.  

We will introduce you to the practical elements of trading a variety of financial instruments within the contemporary market environment. We work with Amplify Trading, who provide real-life trading simulation sessions with investment experts, and you'll develop the practical skill set that many financial institutions actively seek. 

This degree programme is so closely tied to professional practice, that it was welcomed into the CFA Institute University Affiliation Program. 

You will learn how to evaluate the impact of changing regulatory and operating conditions and gain an understanding of the local and global tensions in banking and financial services.  

Ethics and professional standards form a key component of the programme and will be taught at every stage. 

Employability is the cornerstone of this programme. You will graduate with a combination of knowledge and practical skills that will take you forward in your career.

Entry requirements

We normally make offers of AAB/ABB at A Level. (This excludes General Studies, Critical Thinking, Extended Projects and Citizenship Studies).

All applicants are usually required to hold a minimum of GCSE Maths Grade B or Grade 6 + GCSE English Grade C or Grade 4. Ideal applicants will have studied one of the following A Levels: Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or Physics.

We accept the BTEC Extended Diploma at D*DD and the Diploma and Subsidiary Diploma along with other qualifications. We also accept the International Baccalaureate (30-32 points) and holders of the AAT/ACCA diplomas are encouraged to apply.

Typically we make offers at ABB at A-Level and Distinction* Distinction Distinction at BTEC but we view all applications holistically and offers may vary depending on relevance of subjects, personal statements and other experience.
