    Electric Power Engineering

    About

Overview The global use of electricity and electronics is continuously increasing, and in the coming decades, electric vehicles in combination with renewable electricity production will change our energy systems. The paradigm shift in the development in vehicles will affect how and when electricity is produced, transmitted, distributed, and consumed, and all these challenges need to be met.The recent advancements in information and communication technology also offer new opportunities in e.g. the design and operation of electric power systems. These are some of the areas where engineers and experts within the field of electric power engineering are needed.Electric Power Engineering of Chalmers University of Technology aims to provide master’s programme students with:good theoretical knowledge by means of lectures and tutorials, good practical experience by means of computer exercises (simulation) and laboratory exercises (experimentation),contact with Swedish industry through guest lectures, study visits and opportunities to carry out master’s thesis work in the industry.Key facts:The programme offered by Chalmers University of Technology is closely connected to the graduate research school in the area of energy and the environment, and particularly to specialisations within electric power engineering. It is also connected to the graduate research school in the area of high voltage engineering, which is a joint initiative between Chalmers University of Technology, Uppsala University, the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and High Voltage Valley in Ludvika. Many of the programme’s courses and master’s thesis project areas provide a strong link to research activities within the Division of Electric Power Engineering and the High Voltage Engineering Division, the latter belonging to the Department of Materials and Manufacturing Technology.
