The Department of Electrical Engineering was established with the founding of the College of Engineering in 1990/1991. Currently, the department includes 19 faculty members: 6 with the rank of professor, 10 with the rank of associate professor, 2 with the rank of assistant professor, and one instructor.
The department grants bachelor's degrees in three important specializations in the field of electrical engineering over a period of five years for 163 credit hours. About (265) male and female students study in the department. At the bachelor’s level, they are divided into the following specializations:
* Electrical/Communications Engineering
* Electrical Engineering/Power and Control
* Electrical/Electronics Engineering
The department also awards a master's degree in communications engineering at 33 credit hours during two tracks: thesis and comprehensive. About (3) male and female students study at the master's level, distributed among the programs. The following:
* Communications Engineering
* Smart grids in electrical power systems
The courses offered in the department are distinguished by their importance and keeping pace with the requirements of the times, as well as programs in universities in developed countries. The bachelor’s program includes humanities subjects, in order to increase the student’s knowledge and culture, in addition to scientific subjects and compulsory requirements related to... Chemistry, physics, mathematics, and any subjects necessary for the student in the department. It is noteworthy that students of the Electrical Engineering Department can use the computers in the electrical engineering laboratories, and Internet service also facilitates the task of students in study and scientific research.
The Department of Electrical Engineering contains the following laboratories:
- Electrical circuits
