Overview To this Energy Engineering and Management programme, various departments of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST) contribute with their competences recognized both on the national and international levels.In the last decades, the world is faced with the need to find answers to a number of challenges related to the production, storage, transport and consumption of energy. Issues related to climate change, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the limits to the use of fossil fuels need a holistic approach and global answers that require considerable innovation in sustainable energy technologies and renewable energy technologies. To this innovation effort, many professionals will contribute by integrating multidisciplinary skills in energy technologies as well as in the areas of economics, environment and policies which are of social relevance.ObjectivesThe Master in Energy Engineering and Management aims at training the new generation of skilled professionals to be active in the energy sector. With this goal, the program offers cross training in the energy field, ensuring specialized technical knowledge, grounded on a solid scientific basis, complemented with a broad knowledge in the areas of economics, environment and innovation.The Master In Energy and Management combines the academic experience and the industry connections of the various departments at IST with the different international partnerships of prestigious European schools in which IST participates to offer a multidisciplinary program in the field of energy.The Master In Energy and Management combines an approach to sustainable energy systems, in its different economical, environmental and social aspects with specialization areas which are relevant in the energy sector. The students through development of quantitative analytical methods, critical evaluation of solutions and application of modern research techniques and in contact with several industrial needs, will be capable of dealing with a large range of problems facing society in the field of energy.EmploymentThe Master in Energy Engineering and Management is intended to train professionals to be active in the energy sector in the relevant areas of fuels, energy conversion, energy efficiency, nuclear energy and renewable energy.Professionals may follow careers in research, industry or management in large, medium or small companies or startups, or becoming entrepreneurs.

1If you have completed an undergraduate or an integrated masters (1st study cycle) at Instituto Superior Técnico, even though with no scientific consistency with the course of the 2nd study cycle that you wish to apply to;Hold an undergraduate degree (1st study cycle) in the field of Science and Technology (except in the case of the 2nd study cycle in Architecture which requires a 1st study cycle programme in Architecture);Hold either an academic, scientific or professional curriculum verifying the capability to complete the master’s programme you are applying to.
