Overview The training in Physics Engineering materialises the vision that economical, human and social progress can be achieved through the understanding and the manipulation of matter. Not only at the macroscopic and human scale, as in the scientific and industrial revolutions of the XVII, XVIII and XIX centuries, but also, in the XXI century, at scales that range from nanotechnology to the large scale of the distant and unknown parts of the Universe.The main objective of the Master’s program in Engineering Physics at Instituto Superior Técnico is to prepare highly qualified scientists or engineers in Physics, who should be able to contribute for, and keep pace with, track the scientific and technological innovation. Playing an active role in a changing world, MEFT holders are prepared to perceive the scientific development in the threshold of knowledge and contribute to elaborate and ground-breaking technologies.EmploymentAfter completing the MEFT, our graduates will have acquired cross-cutting competencies which will allow them not only to pursue advanced studies in the most diversified scientific fields (Physics and Physics Engineering, Biology, Medicine) in the best universities worldwide, to join intergovernmental organisations, but also to integrate engineering teams in leading companies working in a wide variety of fields from microelectronics engineering to space industry.Given the overarching spectrum of skills, it is possible to find professionals with distinct profiles among the holders of a MEFT degree, like managers in multinational companies, entrepreneurs running their own companies, qualified technologists in R&D companies, PhD researchers in scientific research institutions or professors top universities around the world.

1If you have completed an undergraduate or an integrated masters (1st study cycle) at Instituto Superior Técnico, even though with no scientific consistency with the course of the 2nd study cycle that you wish to apply to;Hold an undergraduate degree (1st study cycle) in the field of Science and Technology (except in the case of the 2nd study cycle in Architecture which requires a 1st study cycle programme in Architecture);Hold either an academic, scientific or professional curriculum verifying the capability to complete the master’s programme you are applying to.
