    Overview The Master's programme in Environmental Studies at Universidade de Aveiro trains professionals and researchers in the domain of the environmental sciences, developing competences for environmental management, pollution control and in environmental technologies. The curriculum emphasizes a comprehensive and holistic view of environmental problems and solutions within a preventive framework.This programme is designed for the application of new teaching-learning methodologies, supported by technology and web-based communication systems, including the use of e-learning and campus-wide internet resources, as well as student-centred methods. It is supported by the 45 years long experience of the University of Aveiro in training students in Environmental Engineering. This Master programme responds to the new challenges in a fast evolving work environment, revealing the academia ability to actively support the society needs.  The Master in Environmental Studies aims todevelop competences:in the context of water pollution;in the context of air pollution;in the context of the technologies of wastewater treatment;in the management of hydrological resources;in the management of solid wastes;of intervention in the industrial environment;in the assessment of environmental impacts and environmental risks;in the interdisciplinary interpretation of the scientific areas involved.
    The interest, opportunity and need underpinning the Master's degree in Environmental Studies at Universidade de Aveiro are closely related to the educational perspective of the Bologna process. They also have to do with issues of social relevance, of the market and of scientific and pedagogical development.
