Information systems are software processes and hardware systems that help companies collect, organize, store, filter, generate and distribute information. These include a range of technologies, such as web communications, enterprise resource planning systems, information security systems, computer networks, and data analytics. Together, these processes support processes, facilitate communication, and improve decision-making. These are essential for any business today to compete effectively in the digital world.

To use information technology effectively, one must gain an appreciation for a range of issues, including IT management and change management, enterprise systems, business analysis, and emerging technologies. This major will prepare students to develop a comprehensive understanding of the issues and how to address them.

This major has been created to provide students with an opportunity to understand fundamental aspects of IT in organizations - IT governance, enterprise systems, business analysis, and new technologies. The mandatory courses for this specialization are designed to provide the student with a comprehensive overview of the main concepts that organizations face today in applying information systems to achieve strategic organizational goals such as operational excellence, improving decision-making and achieving competitive advantages among other strategic goals

Requirements

Entry Requirements

Students with a high school diploma or its equivalent from outside Jordan can enroll in higher education institutions directly through websites of public and private universities or intermediate community colleges based on their averages. Universities implement the credit hours system, which allows students to choose courses according to their study plan.

Students wishing to enroll in a master's program must hold a bachelor's degree. Furthermore, students who wish to enroll in doctoral programs must hold a master's degree.

In addition, students wishing to enroll in postgraduate programs are required to provide a certificate confirming their English proficiency level in a TOEFL or IELTS exam. They could also demonstrate a certain proficiency level in French or German. Lastly, they could take an English language exam held by the higher education institution they apply in.

In the event that the student fails to prove the required level of English, German or French, or fails the English equivalency exam, they may study a qualifying program in English at the university where they undertake additional six credit hours; he/she must score a minimum grade that varies according to their specialization.
