    About

The HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing (Release 5) is a vocational qualification in Nursing that will equip you to work as an Enrolled Nurse and also provide a pathway to the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Wollongong (UOW).

Nursing is one of the most sought after and rewarding careers in healthcare today. Enrolled Nurses work under the supervision of a registered nurse in a variety of healthcare environments to provide clinical care and emotional support to their patients.

You’ll learn how to communicate effectively with patients and other staff, administer and monitor medications, manage the care of wounds and prepare health assessments and care plans. You will also benefit from on-the-job clinical placements in which you will work as part of a team and under the supervision of Registered Nurses.

You will graduate with a nationally recognised qualification in Nursing in just 18 months with a diverse range of real, practical skills ready for a rewarding career with a world of opportunities.

The theory components and practical laboratory simulations of this course will be delivered on the University campus. Students must complete a minimum of 400 hours of clinical placement to qualify for this program. UOW College will arrange all clinical placements with healthcare facilities in the Illawarra and Sydney regions. Students will have the opportunity to complete placements in various settings, including rehabilitation, sub-acute, and acute wards.

Throughout the course, you will attend a minimum of 21 hours of face-to-face study per week (3 days) at the University of Wollongong (UOW) campus in Wollongong or Liverpool.

This course is offered by our pathway provider, UOW College Australia. See the course outline for detailed information, including the course structure.

*The guarantee is subject to meeting UOW entry requirements as described in the course outline.
