Overview General context of the domainThis year's classes might be taught online due to COVID-19.ICT (Information and Communication Technology) was historically devoted to the transport of information between persons. The telegraph and PSTN (Public Switched Telephone network) were the first communication networks that have been developed and deployed worldwide for this purpose. This situation prevailed for more than one century. At the end of 70’s, computer and semiconductor industry started extending the traditional scope of application of ICT. New processing capabilities brought by processors and the development of operating systems made it possible to develop new applications and services. Progress in storage and memory systems made it possible to store higher volumes of information. Career opportunities Several types of job opportunities are available for students of the Information Engineering specialty at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Careers in research and development are a first opening where ICT engineers from SPEIT can find positions in different companies ranging from startups to multinationals. Training program of SPEIT lays emphasize on innovation and entrepreneurship. I want to find another Bachelor Course
