Master of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic)

    About

The Master of Engineering (Electrical and Electronic) reflects Flinders University's strength over many years in instrumentation, control systems and robotics, including computer vision, renewable energy systems and electronics for medical devices. This degree will allow you to be a part of the next generation of electrical and electronic technology professionals.

Designing and developing electrical and electronic devices is the responsibility of professional engineers, who are playing an increasingly important role in the development of smart infrastructure for autonomous automotive vehicles, aerospace and maritime engineering; bioinstrumentation; intelligent robotics; environment monitoring, smart cities and a low-carbon economy.

Flinders specialises in research training for engineers, and the course offers you a choice of research projects in intelligent control, autonomous vehicles, robotics, image/signal processing, computer vision and robotics, renewable energy and bioinstrumentation. Staff are directly involved on industry projects involving unmanned underwater vehicles, video tracking, bioinstrumentation and environmental sensors.

The program provides a balance of advanced theoretical knowledge and associated project work. As well as core topics in electrical and electronic engineering students choose one of three areas of further specialisation: Advanced electrical engineering, Advanced electronic engineering, or Robotics and computer vision. Study areas include areas such as systems engineering; engineering management; control systems; electrical and electronic circuits and machines; sensors and actuators; signal processing; engineering management and innovation; and a research project undertaken as part of an active research team. Students also spend time in industry practising what they have learnt. High achieving graduates from this program can apply to continue to do a PhD.
