    If you are a graduate with a previous degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) and are looking to upgrade and extend your knowledge and skills in this high demand area, the Mechanical Engineering postgraduate program at Flinders provides you with the perfect study plan.

    Ranging from the Graduate Diploma, and Master of Engineering Science to this Master of Engineering, these courses offer a unique selection of advanced topics in various branches of Mechanical Engineering such as Solid Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Design and Manufacturing, Materials, and Control. The courses also integrate with the strong research and development programs in the College of Science and Engineering.

    With the demand for professional mechanical engineers with an advanced level of expertise and knowledge, these courses equip students with the latest theoretical and practical aspects of Mechanical Engineering to address high-level industry requirements such as research and development, advanced design and analysis of complex mechanical systems.

    The program provides a balance of advanced theoretical knowledge and associated project work. As well as core topics in electrical and electronic engineering students choose one of three areas of further specialisation: Advanced electrical engineering, Advanced electronic engineering, or Robotics and computer vision. Study areas include areas such as systems engineering; engineering management; control systems; electrical and electronic circuits and machines; sensors and actuators; signal processing; engineering management and innovation; and a research project undertaken as part of an active research team. Students also spend time in industry practising what they have learnt. High achieving graduates from this program can apply to continue to do a PhD.


    Entry Requirements

    Applicants must normally hold a bachelor degree or equivalent qualification or hold a the Graduate Certificate in Leadership in Education or closely related qualification. In addition, applicants must also have no less than two years’ work experience in an organisation.

    English Program Requirements

    If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements and need to improve your English language proficiency, you can do so through our approved English Language Instruction Course for Overseas Students (ELICOS) providers. This means that you can attend the required English language tuition at approved ELICOS providers and gain direct entry into university without an IELTS or TOEFL test.
