    About

    The program aims to cultivate scholars who formulate and conduct original scientific research in the field of Architecture and sub-research areas such as History of Architecture, Theory and Criticism, Cultural Studies, Environmental Control and Building Technology, Building Information, Urban Design. The target of the program is to provide students with basic theoretical approaches and accumulation of knowledge in the field of architecture and the listed sub-research areas at international, national and local scales. Within the framework of the program, the students will gain the ability to conduct independent research, to interpret the scientific events with a broad perspective and to determine the necessary steps to reach new syntheses.
    The first year of the PhD programme consists of coursework, followed by one year of preparation for the Doctorate Proficiency Examination. After passing the examination successfully, students will begin to write their dissertations, for a total research period of two years.

    Entry Requirements

    Postgraduate diploma (or higher) To be a graduate of Architecture or similar (e.g. Architecture, Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Landscape Design, City and Regional Planning) bachelors degree program and to be a graduate of Architecture, City and Regional Planning, Interior Architecture, Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, Landscape Design, Energy Technologies, Sociology, New Media, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or similar MSc degree programs (with thesis). Min. Graduation Degree(Master) should be: 3.00 / 4.00 One of the test results listed below should be obtained : GRE (New) : Min. 153, GMAT: Min. 500 ALES: 70 Quantitative The entry qualification documents are accepted in the following languages: English / Turkish. Often you can get a suitable transcript from your school. If this is not the case, you will need official translations along with verified copies of the original.

    English Program Requirements

    Students who have applied for Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree programmes provided in English, are obligated to take the Yasar University English Proficiency Test (FLAT). Exam registration is completed during the matriculation process. Direct entry to first year of the program is achieved with a minimum score of 65/100 in this exam. Students achieving below this score will be required to take a year of English preparation before entering the faculty.

    Exemption from the English Preparation Year may also be gained by submitting passing scores in one of the following equivalent English Language Tests:
    TOEFL IBT
    CAE
    CPE
    PTE

    The Yasar University FLAT Examination is not valid for PhD Candidates. Students who are applying to PhD program must submit one of the exams listed above.

    According to the legislation accepted by the State Higher Education Council of Turkish Republic, IELTS is not accepted as a valid examination for English language exemption at all educational degrees.


    English TOEFL IBT: Min. 90 or its equivalent defined by ÖSYM IELTS is invalid due to State Higher Education Council of Turkish Republic Legislation effective as of 01.07.2016.
