    About

Overview The BSc Physics at the University of Basel successfully participates in cutting-edge research in important and fascinating areas of physics:Nano and quantum physicsThe revolutionary concepts of quantum physics and their consequences for the smallest to the largest things are researched here at the highest level, be it in super-semiconductors or semiconductors, magnets, graphs, topological systems or ultra-cold gases. New tools of nanophysics are used or developed to open the door to the quantum world. In this area, the fundamentals for key technologies of the future are researched and taught, ranging from quantum computing, quantum optics, and scanning probe microscopes to the life sciences. The nanoscience in Basel is unique and a leader in Switzerland, also because of the close cooperation of the Department with the Swiss Nano Sciences Institute (SNI) - the national center of excellence in nanoscience and technology.Cosmology and particle physicsWhat is the origin of the matter-antimatter asymmetry without which matter would not have arisen? What is the nature of "dark matter"? How did galaxies, stars and neutron stars come into being? The cosmology and particle physics explores the subatomic building blocks of matter, its role in the development of the universe and in the formation of stars and supernova explosions.Course structureThe Bachelor is the first degree before the Master. It comprises a total of 180 credit points (CP). The bachelor's degree in physics is a so-called mono degree without additional subjects. One ECTS credit point corresponds to approximately 30 hours of work. I want to find another Bachelor Course
The division of the BSc Physics at the University of Basel into the two sub-areas corresponds to the two types of physical research, namely on the one hand asking specific questions about nature and exploring them through experiments and on the other hand interpreting the results with the help of mathematical and numerical methods and predicting new facts.
