Based on the university’s vision and mission, which includes preparing serious and distinguished leaders in academic and scientific fields at the local, regional and global levels, the College of Engineering established the Department of Renewable Energy Engineering at Middle East University, which was founded in 2014, and was the first specialization of its kind at the level of private Jordanian universities. The department offers a bachelor's degree in renewable energy engineering, which focuses on engineering sciences in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, mechanics of materials, heat transfer, materials science, and energy system and conversion. The student is then given extensive and extensive knowledge in renewable energy technology such as solar cell systems, concentrated solar energy, and wind energy. The program also includes a number of elective courses that allow the student to further specialize in the field of advanced sustainable technologies such as bioenergy and hydroelectric energy. Moreover, the program has more than 12 laboratories specialized in renewable and thermal energy. These laboratories are equipped with devices and tools of high specifications in order to give the student an idea for practical application.
