Recent technological advancements have played a significant role in transforming the media industry and shifting the course of journalistic and media work into the virtual world. These developments have also contributed to reshaping the landscape of traditional journalism and media, which have merged with interactive digital media.
In line with these developments, the Department of Journalism and Digital Media was established in the 2020/2021 academic year to keep pace with the technological transformations in the media field. This came after digital media became dominant in the media industry, with global print newspapers transitioning to electronic ones and an increasing reliance of satellite channels and radio stations on digital media.
The Department of Journalism and Digital Media offers a comprehensive curriculum for this specialty, including a set of general, specialized, and elective courses that adhere to global standards. The program academically and practically prepares students through training in university-provided labs, studios, and facilities, in addition to field training outside the university. Furthermore, "Manbar Al Petra," the online platform for the Faculty of Media students, provides them with training opportunities to enhance their practical skills and prepare them for careers in the fields of digital media, television, and radio, meeting the needs of the Jordanian, Arab, and global markets.
