    About Master of Laws

    In 1991, the Faculty of Architecture and Design was established at the University of Petra with two departments: Architecture and Interior Design. The Graphic Design Department was added in 2003, the Amination and Multimedia Department was added in 2016, and recently in 2022, Digital Film Design Technology Department was added. The study plan is based on the system of credit hours and semesters. The Faculty offers the Bachelor's Degree in the five majors.

    Due to the great importance of the infrastructure and equipment needed for teaching the theoretical and practical academic requirements of the five specializations, the Faculty has provided a laboratory for learning resources to help students study, in addition to 23 studios, seven computer labs, an acoustics lab, a silkscreen lab, a ceramics workshop, a photography lab and a model making lab, a large studio for fine arts, a carpentry and metal workshop and a permanent exhibition hall for students' projects.

    The Faculty encourages the teaching staff towards scientific research including attending international conferences. It also offers scholarships to distinguished graduates for further studies in distinguish universities internationally. The Faculty has been engaged in international research projects with UCL, Oxford, Reading, Berlin and Brighton universities to name a few, and received the Newton Fund Prize 2020, another testament to the commitment we show to our work. Also, students from the five departments have constantly won national and international prizes, which also indicates the high standards held at our university.

    The Faculty is open to the local community through students' projects that are mainly related to are directed to satisfy the present and futuristic needs and aspirations of the society. It also forms assessment committees (Juries) composed of highly specialized people in their fields, from within and outside the Faculty to evaluate students' proposed projects objectively and impartially.

    The Faculty holds art exhibitions for its students, academic members reflecting their diverse schools of art. This would present a clear picture of the cultural variety and the artistic richness of the Faculty.

    Requirements and Admission Criteria for Master of Laws at Petra University

    Entry Requirements

    Students with a high school diploma or its equivalent from outside Jordan can enroll in higher education institutions directly through websites of public and private universities or intermediate community colleges based on their averages. Universities implement the credit hours system, which allows students to choose courses according to their study plan.

    Students wishing to enroll in a master's program must hold a bachelor's degree. Furthermore, students who wish to enroll in doctoral programs must hold a master's degree.

    In addition, students wishing to enroll in postgraduate programs are required to provide a certificate confirming their English proficiency level in a TOEFL or IELTS exam. They could also demonstrate a certain proficiency level in French or German. Lastly, they could take an English language exam held by the higher education institution they apply in.

    In the event that the student fails to prove the required level of English, German or French, or fails the English equivalency exam, they may study a qualifying program in English at the university where they undertake additional six credit hours; he/she must score a minimum grade that varies according to their specialization.

    Thesis/thesis defense fee is 500 dinars

    The comprehensive exam fee is 200 dinars

    Semester registration fees for new students for the year 2025-2026

    Registration fees (non-refundable): 200 dinars for the regular semester, and 100 dinars for the summer semester

    Service fees (sporting, artistic, and other activities) (non-refundable): 170 dinars for the regular semester, and 85 dinars for the summer semester

    Insurance fees (refundable): 100 dinars for the regular semester, and 100 dinars for the summer semester

    First-time admission application fee (paid upon acceptance) (non-refundable): 40 dinars

    Level exam fees (paid upon acceptance) (non-refundable): 45 dinars (for bachelor’s students)
