The Master's program in Arabic Language and Literature was introduced at the beginning of the 2012/2013 academic year, with the aim of providing the local and Arab market with distinguished scientific competencies in the language, literature, and various Arabic sciences, by graduating students who possess high abilities in the Arabic language and its various fields. The program is taught by qualified professors, who hold qualifications that include various sciences of the Arabic language and its knowledge, and whose academic ranks vary between professor and associate professor. The student is awarded a Master’s degree in Arabic Language and Literature after studying (33) credit hours, and his graduation is achieved according to two tracks:
The first is the thesis track, which includes (24) credit hours as academic subjects and (9) hours allocated to the thesis, so that the student submits to the defense after he has completed his thesis and prepared for it, and the result is either pass, pass after modification, or fail.
The second track is the comprehensive exam track, where the student studies (33) credit hours as study subjects. Then a comprehensive and diverse subject is selected for the comprehensive exam and a date is set for it. The student applies for it and after successfully passing it, obtains a master’s degree in Arabic language and literature.
In fact, the program was very well received by students and those enrolled in it, and it graduated groups numbering approximately (7).
The Department of Arabic Language and Literature is working hard to develop a doctoral program in Arabic Language and Literature, in order to contribute to opening the field for those who wish to complete their studies in this specialty, and to provide the market with qualified people who are able to engage in work in their field of specialization, and to serve the nation’s language and identity.
