The Bachelor of Civil Engineering program was established at the Hajaji College of Engineering and Technology at Yarmouk University in 2012. The program was initially offered with two academic tracks: Construction Management and Construction Technology, then it was restructured and unified in 2022 under the name “Bachelor of Civil Engineering.” This update reflects a strategic shift towards a more integrated and comprehensive curriculum in line with global industry standards. The program is scheduled to seek ABET accreditation after the first batch graduates, according to the new program structure. The program is designed to prepare students for impactful careers in the areas of infrastructure development, structural systems, water resources, transportation engineering, and environmental solutions. Students gain a solid foundation in civil engineering principles, while developing practical skills in design, construction, analysis and project management. A highlight of the curriculum is its focus on applied learning and interaction with industry. Students complete a two-month field practicum in professional engineering environments, as well as a two-semester capstone project that promotes innovation and real-world problem solving. The program is constantly updated to keep pace with developments in technology, sustainability and construction practices, promoting professional growth and adaptability. Students graduate fully qualified to contribute to the built environment through jobs in the public and private sectors, or to pursue postgraduate studies in the specialized fields of civil and construction engineering.
