The Department of Basic Medical Sciences provides student teaching services in some important basic knowledge for medical students, which are anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, genetics, histology, and pharmacology. Its staff includes an elite group of distinguished faculty members who hold their degrees from the most prestigious international universities. They are entrusted with the tasks of teaching, research and development, in addition to research and academic networking with local and international universities. The department aims to enhance students’ knowledge of basic medical sciences through theoretical lectures and practical laboratories, which are presented with an integrated educational body systems system. The body systems that are studied in the department include the following devices:
Respiratory system, cardiovascular system, hemolymphatic system, digestive system, endocrine system, musculoskeletal system, central and peripheral nervous system and genitourinary system. The department contains classrooms equipped with the latest audio and video equipment, in addition to research and teaching laboratories equipped with the latest equipment and devices, such as the virtual anatomy table (anatomage) and other simulation devices, with the aim of obtaining the highest quality of basic medical education, which prepares the student with the knowledge and science necessary to complete his clinical studies.
