The department was established in 1982, and began offering a bachelor's program in financial and banking sciences since its establishment. In 1999, the department offered a master's program in financial and banking sciences. Through the content of the courses it offers, the department aims to qualify students theoretically and practically in the various fields of knowledge that are related to the field of financial and banking sciences. The department also contributes to providing advisory services to all sectors in Jordanian society. The department focuses on teaching and scientific research in the fields of financial and banking sciences. The department also develops study plans in a way that suits the requirements of the labor market and keeps pace with global changes locally and internationally. The department also continues to hold scientific conferences and seminars to follow up on the latest issues and challenges facing the financial sector. And the banking sector locally, regionally and globally. The department also operates a simulation room for the Amman Stock Exchange, in cooperation with the stock exchange’s management, in addition to a virtual market for currency exchange (Forex), for the purposes of training and scientific research in financial markets. The department’s performance was academically evaluated through committees affiliated with the King Hussein Fund for Excellence and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), and the department ranked first in the Kingdom.
