    About Bachelor of History

History is a dynamic and vital field of study through which nations derive their historical identity and learn from the experiences of their ancestors across the entire historical timeline—from the beginning of human civilization to the end of the twentieth century. By studying history, societies gain valuable lessons from the past, avoid repeating previous mistakes in the present, and anticipate their future.

Recognizing the significance of history, Zarqa University took a pioneering step in 2003 by establishing the History Department. Although it was later closed, the department was reopened in the first semester of the 2023-2024 academic year. Admission to the history program is granted to students who have passed the General Secondary Examination (Tawjihi) with a minimum score of 60%, as well as to bridging students who have completed the Comprehensive Exam for graduates of Jordanian community colleges in the relevant field. Additionally, students transferring from other universities or changing majors, whether within Zarqa University or from other institutions, are also eligible to enroll.

A comprehensive academic plan has been developed, comprising 132 credit hours that cover the essential knowledge areas required by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for Higher Education Institutions. The curriculum spans ancient, Islamic, modern, and contemporary history, as well as philosophy and historical methodologies. It is structured over eight academic semesters following a well-designed study plan that helps students systematically to acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and competencies. This structured approach ensures that graduates are well-prepared to become successful teachers, distinguished historians, and honest writers, ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree in history from Zarqa University.

The program is taught and supervised by a distinguished group of faculty members specializing in various historical fields. Additionally, the department provides well-equipped classrooms featuring data show projectors and diverse educational resources to enhance the learning experience.
