Department of Musicology which was founded in 1986 with the name of "Department of Ethnomusicology and Folklore" under Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, has started training in 1988.
In 2007 name of the department was changed as "Musicology". By means of restructuring, the existing Department of Ethnomusicology and Folklore, however, is converted to Department of Musicology and a revision of the program has been made.
Department of Musicology, by means of the undergraduate and graduate programs carried out today, gives training in all sub-disciplines of musicology with modern methods and techniques, follows closely the current international studies and continues to contribute to academic knowledge by means of scientific publications.

Entry Requirements
In order to be accepted to this programme it is required to be high school graduates. Students are selected by means of "TYT" and Special Talents Exam. For international students, the conditions laid down by Hacettepe University for the acceptance of foreign students are applied (http://www.iso.hacettepe.edu.tr/).
