Bachelor of Opera at Hacettepe University

The Opera at Hacettepe University is a Bachelor program designed for students who want to build the knowledge and skills required for careers in this field. Delivered on campus at the university's main campus in Istanbul, Turkey, the program is taught in English. About Bachelor of Opera

Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory was established in 1936. The Opera Department was added in the 40s under the leadership of the Austrian singing instructors M. KLEIN, F. BÃ–HM, E. HIDALGO, famous Italian Soprano G. A. LOMBARDI and S. Ä°KESUS ALTAN who all together developed the educational programme of the Opera Department under the influence of Italian and German Singing Ã‰coles. The main features of this programme persist until the present time and have been enhanced continuously. The Opera Department aims to educate professional opera singers who are able to work on opera stages and educational institutions. It focuses on voice and acting techniques and knowledge, skills and competency in the field of music. A revision of the programme was made in 2009 by the closure of high school section. The programme was transformed into one preparatory and a four year credit licence programme.

Requirements and Admission Criteria for Bachelor of Opera at Hacettepe University

Entry Requirements

High school graduation is required for admission to the programme (one-year Preparatory and four-year Bachelor Programme). Students are admitted to the programme by YGS (Turkish Student Selection and Placement System) and a special aptitude entrance exam. Attendance to YGS is not required for conservatory high school graduates. To be admitted to this program, Opera Department Directive of Bachelor`s Degree conditions apply.
