The Turkish Language is a PhD degree offered by Hacettepe University at its main campus in Istanbul, Turkey. The program is delivered on campus as a Full Time course in English. About PhD in Turkish Language
3. Required to have at least 60 in the Foreign Knowledge in Foreign Language Placement Examination (Yabancı Dil Seviye Tespit Sınavı, YDS). Alternatively, applicants are required to submit an equivalent score from other foreign language examinations, held at the national or international level, whose equivalence is approved by ÖSYM.
5. Those conditions, which are not included, are applied in accordance with the related provisions of the Hacettepe University Graduate Education, Instruction and Examination Regulations (Hacettepe Üniversitesi Lisansüst Eğitim, Öğretim ve Sınav Yönetmeliği).
The requirements for the Ph.D. program in the field of Turkish Language are taking courses, passing the proficiency exam, writing a dissertation, and presenting a successful thesis defense. Students are required to take a minimum of 120 ECTS credits for coursework and a minimum of 120 ECTS credits for the Ph. D. dissertation (240 ECTS credits in sum) in order to graduate. Students who pass each of their courses and have a minimum GPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 are eligible to take the Ph.D. proficiency exam. The students who successfully pass the exam are then eligible to work on their dissertations under the guidance of the dissertation committee and present it to the jury. In order to successfully complete the program, students must take and pass all the required courses in their program and earn a minimum of 120 ECTS credits (24 national credits) for coursework and thesis work.
