Overview
The programme offers a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approach that follows current developments in politics closely, incorporates universal points of discussion and research methods into its program, goes beyond narrow patterns. It helps them understand the phenomenon of politics from an analytical and critical point of view. It provides individuals who are open to innovation and change to society, assimilating the values of freedom and equality, linking local and global with private and universal values, environmentally sensitive, adhering to ethical values, creatively thinking. The programme aims to be the center of critical thinking and knowledge production.
Audience
All undergraduate programme graduates are accepted. Candidates who have completed their undergraduate studies outside the fields of Political Studies, Political Science and International Relations, Philosophy or Sociology are admitted to join one semester scientific preparation programme depending on the decision taken by the programme acceptance commission.
Graduates' Working Areas
Graduates may work on political economics and political history; critical development and regionalism; science and environment; international relations and globalisation; political philosophy and theory; political communication and discourse; nationalism and identity, democracy and citizenship.
Programme Outcomes
- Grasping and interpreting the interaction between the area of political studies and different disciplines and forming new types of knowledge by combining knowledge from the area and from various other disciplines
- Assessing and using theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in the area with a critical view, directing one’s own learning process; developing and intensifying knowledge in the related programme’s area
- Solving the problems faced in the area by making use of the research methods
- Carrying out a study independently, developing new strategic approaches while taking responsibility, fulfilling the leadership role where and when it is required
- Transmitting the latest developments and their own studies both to the area of political studies and other disciplines orally, written and visually
- Evaluating and improving social relations and norms that direct those interactions with a critical approach and taking action to change them when it is required
- Developing the capability to communicate verbal and written forms in a foreign language and the ability to use information and communication technologies required by political studies
- Conducting independent study in the area of political studies by closely observing societal, scientific, cultural and ethical values, using the area knowledge and competency in problem solving in conducting interdisciplinary studies
- Preparing an independent and original master thesis in political studies
