The Department of Mathematics at Istanbul Technical University, which was founded in 1971 is offering MSc and PhD Degrees in the Mathematical Engineering Programme.
The graduate programme is aimed at educating prospective researches and faculty members in the areas of pure and applied mathematics. The MSc Programme is based on a competitive core course curriculum that encompasses basic areas of mathematics. Students are then guided to research in specific areas of pure and applied mathematics. Teaching assistantship is thought to be a significant component of the training as a faculty member and graduate students are encouraged to work in the department.
We welcome Mathematics and Mathematics Engineering graduates as well as engineering students who want to pursue a study in mathematics. We want to see them as our colleague in our department and cooperate with us in our projects and we encourage them to be involved in international relations.
The academic staff of the department consists of 6 Professors, 11 Associate Professors, 14 Assistant Professors, 9 Lecturers, 17 Research Assistants in Spring Semester 2010.
The research interests of the faculty are coarsely divided into pure and applied mathematics, ranging from algebra and differential geometry to integrable systems, wave propagation and control theory.
There are more than 100 papers published by the faculty members of the Department of Mathematics in SCI journals with an average number of 2.8 citations/paper.
