    Established in 1826, Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) is a public university located in Warsaw, Poland. It has a global ranking of 531 for the year 2025 according to QS World University Rankings’ website.With a broad range of degree programs, it offers a unique academic and culturally immersive experience for international students.
    Warsaw University of Technology builds upon the traditions of Polish technical universities that used to function in Warsaw – the Polytechnic Institute founded in 1826 thanks to the efforts of Stanisław Staszic and the School of Hipolit Wawelberg and Stanisław Rotwand established in 1895.

    Warsaw University of Technology started on its own in 1915 thanks to the efforts of the Association for Scientific Courses and the Citizens’ Committee of the City of Warsaw. Working uninterruptedly, the University has been producing generations of graduates and has had an increasing number of scientific and technical achievements.

    It is not only the oldest, but also the best technical university in Poland; in the ranking of Polish universities, it has taken the first place in its category for seventeen years. At Warsaw University of Technology, over 160 student research groups, organisations and associations are active, and the educational offer includes many fields of study (also with English as a medium of instruction).

    Admissions at Warsaw University of Technology

    At the University of Technology, we offer comprehensive education in all key areas of technical sciences and related sciences. We run 1st and 2nd degree studies, including courses in English. For people who want to continue their scientific development, we offer education at Doctoral Schools.

    Academics

    The Warsaw University of Technology is a well-renowned university, constantly building upon numerous successes – those of its scientists, employees, as well as students and entrepreneurs cooperating with the University. Here, the boldest ideas and theories come to life and become inventions. New fields of study are being launched, new laboratories are being established, cooperation with industry and foreign centres is constantly being developed. Our students and graduates receive the best technical education and support – they become the most sought-after specialists on the labour market. There are over 160 student science clubs and organisations at the Warsaw University of Technology. Research projects implemented by students allow them to combine the knowledge gained in the course of study with practical skills.

    The Warsaw University of Technology joined the elite of the beneficiaries of the competition Excellence Initiative – Research University (IDUB) organised by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (currently the Ministry of Education and Science). Following the analysis of global social challenges, domestic economic priorities and combining it with the most active academic disciplines at WUT, we have identified 7 Priority Research Areas:

    As part of the IDUB project, we implement grant schemes, conduct activities supporting innovation, dissemination of research findings, and development of staff and student competence.

    We also enhance the international brand of our University.The Warsaw University of Technology and six other universities belong to the ENHANCE alliance, which is among the winners of European Universities Competition organised by the European Union. WUT membership in ENHANCE will facilitate the introduction of innovative teaching methods developing future competencies. Students of member universities of the alliance will be able to select international courses and programmes offered by ENHANCE partners. Active inclusion of stakeholders from industry, economy and local authorities in the activities will play a huge part. This will help students learn how to utilise knowledge and technology to the benefit of society.

    Students Life at Warsaw University of Technology

    Based on longstanding tradition at WUT we understand that student success is not defined solely by academic achievements. The Warsaw University of Technology provides students with numerous possibilities to develop their knowledge, gives them freedom to explore various interests, passions, and dreams.

    Thanks to many kinds of activities everyone has a chance to choose what she or he really is interested in. WUT gives possibilities not only to learn but also helps to develop personal engagement, leadership or community building abilities. Through those activities students at WUT grow as individuals, embrace diversity and learn to learn to get engaged in their societies.

    We create opportunities for growth, achievement and success of students, helping them to see the world with a new perspective and start their working life. The best proof is the fact the Warsaw University of Technology has about 150 Students Research Circles. Students travel all around the world to present their projects, compete and win.

    WUT offers the essential activities traditionally associated with college life, but our location in the heart of Warsaw presents unique opportunities that accentuate the student experience — from athletic teams to students’ clubs. WUT students are active around and beyond campus.

    Accomodation at Warsaw University of Technology

    At Warsaw University of Technology there are 10 dormitories with single, double, triple rooms or apartments to choose from.

    Gym, swimming pool, library, TV room, laundry and kitchen also available.
    The price of a room is approximately 100 Euro monthly.
    Students Union is responsible for the accomodation of all international students.

    Warsaw University of Technology offers ca. 5200 places in 10 student hostels in Warsaw and ca. 500 places in "Wcześniak" Student Hostel in Płock.
