One of our most popular accommodation options, homestay allows you to integrate into family life and practise your English language outside the classroom, over dinner and during the weekend with your welcoming hosts. This is a unique way to live and study at your chosen destination.

We offer an exciting range of General English courses for all levels, from beginner to proficiency, and to suit different budgets. We also offer timetables that give you the flexibility to choose a course that best suits your needs. 

Our core class is an integrated skills class. It covers reading, writing, speaking, listening, grammar, and vocabulary. In this class, you'll improve your accuracy (how correct your English is) and fluency (how well you can communicate). Lessons have daily and weekly objectives so you know what you’ll learn and how you’ll learn it. Our teachers provide you with regular assessments that allow you to keep track of your progress. We use the Communicative Approach, so you'll learn English by using English—not by listening to grammar lectures and doing worksheets. We feel strongly that this is the most effective method to acquire English that students can use in the real world. 

The Syllabus for each level is mapped to the CEFR levels A1-C2. The levels define what you can do and Stafford House believes that language is for communication. Each of our Core Class Course Books is also mapped to the CEFR providing a consistent basis for developing your language skills.

Our IELTS Preparation courses are designed to get you the IELTS level you need, by the date that you need it. IELTS preparation at Stafford House is ideal for students who require a specific IELTS level for university entrance and are available at all Stafford House schools. 

The Stafford House IELTS Preparation course is for students who want to take the IELTS Academic Exam. These courses are designed for students at the intermediate level and above and aim to develop your English skills and improve your exam technique in preparation for the IELTS Exam. 

You will follow an objective-based course structure where your teacher will work with you to determine what IELTS level you need to achieve and identify which skills, techniques, and exam areas you need to develop to reach your goal. 

Every week, as part of your classes, you will study IELTS past papers, focussing on areas of the exam that you need to improve. Throughout your study at Stafford House your teacher and the academic team will monitor your progress and offer you feedback. 

Once a month you will get a report and a one-to-one session with an academic manager to discuss your skills, progression, and exam readiness to ensure you are on track.

Stafford House Cambridge English exam preparation courses cover the areas of your exam in detail to ensure you achieve success. Classes are designed to teach you the skills and English language required, through the study of exam past papers and exam techniques. Stafford House Canterbury and London are both approved testing centers for Cambridge Exams. This means you can book and take your exams in the same place you have your lessons, which should reduce exam anxiety and help you perform better on the day. 

FCE proves you have reached the B2 (Upper Intermediate) level of English and can use everyday written and spoken English for work or study purposes. The program will develop every aspect of your English through engaging lessons and activities, from studying idioms and modal verbs to debating ideas and writing essays at a high language level.
