During the lessons, you rapidly improve your communication skills in a variety of everyday situations. In 2 lessons each day you will cover the following areas: grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. In the further 2 lessons, you concentrate on: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. You use a textbook in conjunction with a wide variety of materials and exercises including roleplays, authentic materials, newspapers, and magazines.

The LSI Intensive 30 course concentrates on all the areas that you need to achieve much greater fluency in a short period of time. This course is suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well-rounded insight into the language and country. Students on the LSI Intensive 30 course study the same lessons as described for General 20 (lessons 1-4). In addition during lessons 5–6, there is a range of electives to suit all levels, needs, and interests.

Academic English combines general English with a focus on key academic skills and exam English. The programme includes regular, focussed grammar and vocabulary reviews, which allow students to target their individual language needs while developing their academic reading and writing skills. This is all supported by specialized, targeted, online resources through our online learning system, E-LSI.

English is the international language of business. This is why we have developed a special modular course carefully designed to improve your business communication skills. In the mornings you will study on our LSI 30 Course. You can prepare for these examinations, which are offered at three different levels, in most of our LSI Language Centres. The First Certificate is the most popular of the Cambridge examinations and can lead to new opportunities professionally and in further education. Our courses are designed to prepare you for all 5 parts of the exam (reading, writing, speaking, listening, and grammar), and to let you sit the exam with confidence.

Cambridge English: B2 First (FCE) 30 lessons p/wk - New York

Over the years LSI students have enjoyed a high success rate in these examinations. You can prepare for these examinations, which are offered at three different levels, in most of our LSI Language Centres. Our staff members and teachers will be happy to advise you which examination is most suitable for you. 

This examination is intended for people who have a good knowledge of English and who need to use the language at work. In this examination, practical use of language is stressed, such as skim reading reports for important information, writing memos for colleagues, or more formal business correspondence. The CAE is the Cambridge Certificate which has developed the fastest and is already accepted in many countries as proof of an advanced level of competence in English.

Cambridge English: C1 Advanced (CAE) 30 lessons p/wk - New York

LSI New York is one of the designated ESL programmes for students taking classes at MCNY, which means that students can transfer into MCNY’s undergraduate or graduate degree programmes without providing a TOEFL score so long as they’ve completed LSI’s advanced course. The accelerated design of MCNY’s courses means that students can complete an MBA in as little as one year of study. You must be at least 16 years old to attend LSI New York; please note that 16-17 year olds cannot stay in Homestay accommodation - they must either arrange their own accommodation or stay at the Amsterdam student residence.
