    You see yourself with a rewarding career in accountancy and finance.

    Using real-world challenges as your starting point, our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree will equip you with all the skills you need to dive into the world of business. Whether it’s through our Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab in Chelmsford, out on placement or through an internship, you’ll get the chance to put what you learn to the test.

    Alongside these practical opportunities, you’ll also be learning all about the ever-changing world of business – from business law to marketing concepts and beyond.

    Our course could see you go on to become a practising accountant or opt for a wider range of careers in business – it’s up to you where your journey takes you.

    Our Bloomberg Financial Markets Lab in Chelmsford can give you the chance to enhance your professional development and employability, through virtual trading and live financial information on global stock exchanges. Cambridge students can visit the Lab in their free time too alongside any-time access to data through Canvas, our learning management system.

    With us, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the knowledge and tools you need to launch your career. Because there’s having access to facilities and software, and there’s having the support to experiment with them. We believe the sooner you start, the more you’ll get out of it; that’s why our students can access Bloomberg from Year 1.

    We know that your future career is important and you want to build your CV. So we’ll encourage you to grab every opportunity for real-world experience. This could mean a placement year in industry, studying abroad for a semester, or a short study visit in Europe, Canada, the USA or Malaysia.

    Our Accounting and Finance degree course will set you up with all the theoretical and practical knowledge you need to work in finance or as an accountant once you graduate from ARU.

    Academic entry requirements

    for students coming from Jordan to ARU

    For entry to a bachelor’s degree (year 1), we will consider the following qualifications:

    • A recognised foundation programme
    • International Baccalaureate Diploma
    • International Advanced Levels (A Levels)
    • Tawjihi with an average grade of 60% plus a Community College Certificate/Diploma with average 50%

    For entry to a master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

    • A recognised pre-masters course
    • Bachelors degree with an overall CGPA of 2.5 or above
    For entry to a research degree, we will consider overseas qualifications equivalent to a UK Master’s degree. Please visit our postgraduate research pages for more information on the application requirements.

    If you don't hold one of the qualifications above, ARU College can help. ARU College provides foundation, first year and pre-Masters courses designed to prepare you for entry to your chosen degree.

    English Program Requirements

    If English is not your first language you will need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.

    • Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
    • Our standard entry criteria for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is IELTS 6.5, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

    If you don't meet our English language requirements, our Language Centre offers a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry onto a degree course.

    Our Language Centre also offers the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT) in the UK and overseas. Check our events page for dates or contact our country managers for more information.

    Career

    The world of business never stands still and our BSc (Hons) Accounting and Finance degree course is no different. Taking real world challenges as our starting point, there is a major focus on practical, hands-on learning to get you set up for a career in business.

    You could go on to become a practising accountant or opt for a wide range of careers in the business sector. You may find yourself working in a global corporation, a small to medium-sized enterprise (SME) or even for yourself – it’s not unusual for company CEOs to come from an accounting or finance background.

    Graduation doesn’t need to be the end of your time with us, of course. You might decide to stay at ARU and study for a Masters, such as our renowned MSc Accounting and Finance. With our Alumni Scholarship, you'll even get 20% off your fees as an ARU graduate.

    Employability and personal career development

    Informed by employers, our courses support an integrated approach to employability. You’ll have opportunities to develop the skills and abilities they are looking for and gain a deeper understanding of how your academic learning relates to the world of work through Live Briefs and Ruskin Modules.
