    Overview

    Studying accounting and finance at DMU provides you with the skills and knowledge to embark on a wide range of careers in accounting and finance.

    Recent graduates have progressed to careers in positions such as Commercial Finance Analyst at Red Bull, Auditor at KPMG, Cost Technician at PepsiCo, Tax Processor at Grant Thornton and Financial Criminal Analyst at Barclays.

    Our high-tech Trading Floor simulates what it is like to work in the financial services industry. It provides access to industry-standard software, including Bloomberg and LSEG Workspace, giving students similar information platforms to those used by leading business, financial and government decision-makers around the globe.

    Within the programme, employability skills will be embedded throughout your learning journey. Our close links with employers and major professional accounting bodies will give you opportunities to enhance your career prospects. For example, you could gain exemptions from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Certified Practicing Accountants Australia (CPA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Institute of Financial Accountants (IFA), the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) and the Association of International Accountants (AIA).

    • Students have secured year-long placements in companies such as IBM, Lloyds Banking Group, Ernst & Young and many more.
    • You could gain up to the maximum of nine exemptions from ACCA exams if you choose the appropriate modules and be exempt from up to the first eight exams with CIMA - a great start towards gaining your professional qualification and developing a wealth of industry knowledge to kick-start your career.
    • Utilise our high-tech Trading Floor. This cutting-edge facility includes access to authentic simulations of financial trading and investing in an ultra-modern environment.
    • As a member of DMU’s Investment Club you’ll benefit from guest lectures from industry partners such as Mattioli Woods PLC, the chance to earn certifications, and hands-on experience with tools like The London Stock Exchange (LSEG) Portfolio and Trading Simulator.
    • Study Accounting and Finance at our Dubai campus – students starting this course in September 2025 will have the opportunity to apply to spend a block in year two studying at our Dubai campus.*

    English language requirements

    If English is not your first language, an IELTS score of 6.0 overall with 5.5 in each band (or equivalent) when you start the course is essential.

    English language tuition, delivered by our British Council-accredited Centre for English Language Learning, is available both before and throughout the course if you need it.
