    About

1st in the North West, 8th in the UK - Guardian League Table 2021 Your transformation from student to professional accounting graduate begins here. You will develop professional, in demand, accounting and finance skills through practical application and real business experiences. The course is accredited by ICAEW, CIMA, ACCA, CIPFA and you will secure major exemptions from the examinations of these key professional accounting bodies as you progress. This ensures that once you have graduated it will take you less time to become qualified as an accountant. Student membership of CIMA is provided and all students can undertake a standalone CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting at the end of first year. This is an opportunity to be awarded a professional qualification before even leaving university. Graduates are also eligible to become a member of AAT once they have acquired the relevant experience. More information about exemptions

We put your future career in our Accounting and Finance degree at the heart of our course, with inspiring, professionally orientated learning experiences.  You will develop all of the skills and knowledge for a high flying career in accounting, finance or in a broader business role. Recent graduates have secured accountancy and business roles in a variety of organisations including large accountancy firms such as PWC and Deloittes, global corporations and the public sector.

Perhaps youd like to undertake an internship whilst studying here? We have had students undertake placements with organisations such as the NHS, Airbus and Volkswagen. A number of students have also expanded their knowledge and skill set whilst working and studying abroad in countries such as Australia, America and Germany.

Your learning and teaching will take place in small workshops where you will feel part of a community of students and where you will be supported and guided by professionally qualified and trained lecturers.

Youll hear from top firms such as Bank of America Merrill Lynch and professional accounting bodies such as CIMA, ACCA and ICAEW to help you choose your career direction. This includes employability skills workshops.

The Finance sector is competitive and ever-changing, but we will make sure you are equipped with a professional, transferable skillset to succeed. You will exit the course ready to fulfil your career aspirations, whatever they are, and to make your mark in the world of Business.

“My tutors guided me and gave me the confidence to apply for my placement in aerospace as well as supporting me throughout the year.” – Natalie Ratchford, Accounting and Finance student
