    About

The major in Accounting at UGA is designed to give students an understanding of the theory of accounting as it is used in our society: accounting standards, financial statement preparation, product costs, budgeting, taxation, auditing, risk assessment, and controls.  (Refer to the Pre-Business major for information on applying to the Accounting program.)

Faculty include the former editor and co-editor of The Accounting Review (the top academic journal in accounting), the former president of the Auditing Section of the American Accounting Association, a former trustee of the American Taxation Association, and others.

The program consistently ranks in top 5% for CPA first time pass rates and boasts an effective career services and job placement rate of over 90%.  Graduates are well-prepared for accounting careers in private, public, or governmental organizations and non-business professions such as law or top-level management.

    How to Apply

UGA supports two different application platforms for First-Year applications. Students should only submit one of these applications. We do not prefer any particular application platform, so please select the option that works best for you and your school counselor. While we are still members of the Coalition for College, we will not be accepting applications on that platform for students applying for Fall 2023.
