    Why this course?

    Studying accounting at Strathclyde, you'll learn about the preparation, presentation and interpretation of financial information that enables investors, lenders, management, employees, government and others to make effective decisions. You'll also learn how to read and interpret accounting information in the annual reports of businesses and the financial information within the public sector and become familiar with the principles and practice of presenting information to those who manage all types of organisations.

    Business analysis applies advanced analytical methods to business problems to help managers make better decisions, while technology is at the heart of all modern business.

    Organisations need business graduates with expertise in business technology. Business analysts have an excellent general awareness of how a business works. They’re also able to apply advanced analytical methods to deal with specific management issues.

    A Business Analysis & Technology degree at Strathclyde is the first step towards full professional accreditation with the Operational Research Society of the UK.

    Undergraduate

    Students who have studied the Tawjihiyya/Thanawiya General School Certificate are eligible for entry via a foundation programme from the ISC. Students that have studied an International Qualification such as A Levels, IB Diploma, French Bac or the American High School system should check the relevant country.

    Postgraduate

    A good degree from a recognised Higher Education Institution is acceptable for postgraduate study at Strathclyde. Our applications are judged on a case-by-case basis and can vary depending on the course. As a guide, we normally consider a GPA of 2.8 out of 4 and 3.8 out of 5.

    English Program Requirements

    We accept a number of English language tests as proof of proficiency in English. IELTS is the most widely available. Information on this can be found on the British Council Website.

    Our current standard requirements are:

    • IELTS (Academic): 6.5 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
    • Faculty of Science: IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)
    • Faculty of Engineering (Undergraduate only): IELTS (Academic): 6.0 overall (no individual band less than 5.5)

    Accounting

    The majority of study combinations of this course leads to a fully accredited degree, allowing you to train for membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland.

    Many of our accounting graduates go onto qualify as Chartered Accountants through one of the major accounting bodies (ICAS, ICAEW, ACCA, CIMA and CIPFA).

    Accounting graduates find jobs as trainee accountants, auditors and tax trainees. Employers include Santander, Ernst & Young and PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, HBOS, KPMG and Morgan Stanley.

    Business Analysis & Technology

    The best-performing companies look for very high levels of problem-solving ability, numeracy, technology, business awareness and teamwork in their new employees. Business Analysis & Technology delivers this to a much greater extent than many other courses in business and management.

    A significant number of well-known companies specifically target graduates from Strathclyde Business School, and from the area of management science in particular.

    Companies employing our graduates include:
