Advanced Medical Imaging Technology Magnetic Resonance Imaging

    About

The Advanced Medical Imaging Technology (AMIT) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) certificate program provides an avenue for post-baccalaureate students who are unable to pursue a second baccalaureate or an advanced degree.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a technique that uses a magnetic field and radio waves to create detailed images of the organs and tissues within your body.  These techniques are used to diagnosis disease and analyze human anatomy.

The program is 12 consecutive months in duration.  Through a combination of classroom, online learning, and clinical instruction, students will be taught the specific skills needed for entry-level positions in MRI. You may also choose to study the second modality (Nuclear Medicine Technology) for an additional 12 month curriculum.

Upon completion of the professional curriculum, certificate students are eligible to sit for national board exams, a necessity in nearly all healthcare fields. It is our goal to supply you with the necessary level of training and experience to adequately prepare for these examinations.

For additional program details including program outcomes, the program's mission and vision, and more please visit the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) program page.

    Entry Requirements

Students enrolled in Jordanian national curriculum are asked to report their current subjects on the “Current or Most Recent Year Courses” section of the Common App. Advise your school counselor, headmaster, director, etc. to upload the following documents to the Common App:

    • Transcripts with final Preparatory school results for year 10, coursework and scores for year 11, and as much as is available for year 12 by the application deadline
    • If you have completed secondary school, official copy of the General Secondary Education Certificate (Tawjihi), accompanied by a certified word-for-word English translation

If the transcript is issued in a language other than English, it must be accompanied by an English translation.

    Career

Advanced Medical Imaging Technology program graduates are employed in hospitals, medical centers, outpatient clinics, and research facilities. Advancement in this field may involve promotion to supervisory and administrative positions, equipment and pharmaceutical sales, product support, and teaching.

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the job outlook for MRI technologists is expected to grow 9% by 2028 (much faster than the national average) and the current median pay is $62,280 per year.

Most full-time MRI Technologists work about 40 hours a week. They may, however, have evening, weekend or on-call hours. Opportunities for part-time and shift work also are available.

Physical stamina is important, because MRI Technologists are on their feet for long periods and need to assist incapacitated patients. Some technologists travel to patients' locations, using large vans and trucks equipped with sophisticated diagnostic equipment.
