    About

    Africa is a continent of great historical and contemporary global importance. Gain international experience and deepen your understanding of international development by living, studying, and working abroad in a third-world country through Trent's respected Trent-in-Ghana program.

    Graduating students who have fulfilled the requirements for an Honours degree in International Development Studies may apply for a Specialization in African Studies, if they have successfully completed the following credits from area studies and the Ghana year abroad program:

    • 5.0 credits from IDST 2401H, 2402H, 3010Y, 3401H, 3402H, 3770Y, 3781Y (3780Y), 3790Y, 3800D, or HIST 4410Y

    Note

    • No more than 1.0 credit from HIST-IDST 2401H, 2402H, 3401H, or 3402H may satisfy the Category B requirement for the Honours program in International Development Studies.
    Gain international experience and deepen your understanding of international development by living, studying, and working abroad in a third-world country through Trent's respected Trent-in-Ghana program.
    • Gain an immediate sense of how development theory applies in practice through classes and field trips
    • Build your intercultural communication skills and in-depth knowledge of another society through cultural immersion
    • Complete a field placement and gain work experience in an area that is directly related to your interests and career objectives.

    • Domestic students (Canadian Citizens or Permanent Residents) not currently enrolled in an Ontario high school, and wishing to only apply to Trent University, can do so through the Trent direct application If you are an international applicant or are applying to multiple universities/programs, please apply at www.ouac.on.ca/ouac-105/

    Access Codes:

    If you are currently enrolled in an Ontario secondary school, guidance counsellors will provide you with access codes (school number, student number, temporary PIN) to access the OUAC site and application process.

    All other applicants will create user profiles on the OUAC site and will not require access codes.
