    Overview The analytical skills and techniques we emphasize—the ability to interpret, analyze, and organize data and to communicate, and the ability to write effectively—are invaluable tools in any profession. Africana majors pursue careers in business, film, law, international affairs, social work, public policy and medicine. Many students also pursue graduate education. The Africana Studies Program at New York University is geared to address a broad range of career interests.Honors ProgramStudents who have completed at least 48 points of graded work in the College of Arts and Science and have at least a 3.65 GPA overall in the major may be awarded degrees with "departmental honors" by successfully completing the Department of Social & Cultural Analysis (SCA) honors sequence.
