    If you’re committed to the sustainable production of high-quality food from field-to-fork while protecting the environment, and you have a passion for technology, innovation and data, our undergraduate degree course is for you.

    We live in an inter-connected world, where industry, economics, society, and the environment all impact on one another.

    The food supply chain is no exception and is critical to the health and wellbeing of everyone. As we tackle challenges from climate change to globalisation, it’s more important than ever that we future proof the production and supply of food.

    By studying our BSc (Hons) Agri-Food Technology, you’ll explore the use of new technologies to ensure the availability of food to everyone in society, while reducing the impact of food production on the environment.

    As an Agri-Food Technology student at ARU Peterborough, you’ll acquire important skills and experience, including a detailed understanding of crop and animal production systems.

    You will build your understanding of soils, water, and the atmosphere, which are essential for understanding the environment, and food production. You’ll also gain a thorough grounding in the social, environmental, and business principles that underpin food security and sustainability.

    Working alongside industry you will see how data science, technology and innovation help farmers and food companies become more sustainable and focus on current issues in food production and future impacts, looking at how we can address them, while considering environmental protection and sustainability.

    You’ll make use of specialist labs, software and field sites to test your ideas and propose solutions. As well as this, you’ll visit production systems and processing facilities, hearing from professionals how organisations respond to a range of issues affecting production and supply.

    You’ll find there’s an emphasis on developing key transferable skills throughout the course, such as teamwork, communication, and numerical and computational skills, innovation and entrepreneurship.

    Academic entry requirements

    for students coming from Jordan to ARU

    For entry to a bachelor’s degree (year 1), we will consider the following qualifications:

    • A recognised foundation programme
    • International Baccalaureate Diploma
    • International Advanced Levels (A Levels)
    • Tawjihi with an average grade of 60% plus a Community College Certificate/Diploma with average 50%

    For entry to a master’s degree, we will consider the following qualifications:

    • A recognised pre-masters course
    • Bachelors degree with an overall CGPA of 2.5 or above
    For entry to a research degree, we will consider overseas qualifications equivalent to a UK Master’s degree. Please visit our postgraduate research pages for more information on the application requirements.

    If you don't hold one of the qualifications above, ARU College can help. ARU College provides foundation, first year and pre-Masters courses designed to prepare you for entry to your chosen degree.

    English Program Requirements

    If English is not your first language you will need to be able to show you have the required level of English language. This is so we can ensure you'll be able to follow your course.

    • Our standard entry criteria for undergraduate courses is IELTS 6.0 or equivalent, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).
    • Our standard entry criteria for postgraduate taught and postgraduate research courses is IELTS 6.5, with nothing lower than 5.5 in any of the four elements (listening, speaking, reading and writing).

    If you don't meet our English language requirements, our Language Centre offers a range of courses which could help you achieve the level required for entry onto a degree course.

    Career

    Agri-food is one of the world’s largest industries, and there are plenty of career opportunities in this rapidly evolving sector.

    As an Agri-Food Technology graduate, you might work for an agriculture company, food manufacturer, producer, retailer, or government department. Or you might choose to start your own company. There are a number of career paths you could pursue, ranging from technical roles, to marketing, distribution, food policy, and product development.

    Graduation doesn’t have to be the end of your time with us. You might decide to stay at ARU and study for a Masters. We’re planning a range of postgraduate degrees at ARU Peterborough, and there is a selection of existing courses in Cambridge and Chelmsford.

    Employability and personal career development

    Informed by employers, our courses support an integrated approach to employability. You’ll have opportunities to develop the skills and abilities they are looking for and gain a deeper understanding of how your academic learning relates to the world of work through Live Briefs and Ruskin Modules.
