    Overview Recognizing the collaborative nature of the medium, the Animation program at Massachusetts College of Art and Design encourages collegiality and the development of interpersonal skills. Students learn how to critique their own work and the work of others in a constructive manner. Coursework culminates in a degree project consisting of a sustained film as well as a portfolio and reel highlighting students' professional and creative objectives.Learning OutcomesTechnology and WorkflowStudents learn the production skills needed to become a professional animator, which include technical proficiency, organizational structures, and ongoing development of self-education, or learning how to learn.Creative ProcessStudents develop a creative process that involves risk-taking, intuition, collaboration, originality and the art of revision as it applies to animation.Critique and AssessmentStudents engage in extensive critiques of various methods as an integral part of learning through engaged participation, reflection, and subsequent action.Research & ContextStudents situate their studio practice in the historical, social and cultural contexts within and surrounding animation.
