    About

    This course will support you to learn the creative and technical skills you need to work in the animation and visual effects industry. This course mixes creative and critical thinking, and will develop your technical skill-set using industry-standard software.

    What sets this course apart from others is how industry-facing it is. You will work as part of a team on a live project to a targeted brief set by a professional client, learn professional production animation and VFX pipelines, and receive feedback on your work from professionals. You will also develop a narrative-based film, showreel, or breakdown reel as part of your final submission.

    We have great connections to the animation and VFX industries, and many of our graduates have gone on to work around the world for top studios and franchises.

    Recent graduate credits include:

    You will be supported by our academic and technical staff, as well as visiting speakers who have experience of working in the animation and / or VFX industry. You will also have access to facilities, including a dedicated studio space, PC Lab with current industry standard animation and VFX software, 4K edit suites, and a green screen production studio.

    Entry Requirements

    Typically we can consider a Bachelor's degree from a well-ranked institution.

    A score of

    • 75-91% (GPA of 3.0/4.0 or 3.5/5.0) is considered comparable to a UK 2:1 (Upper Second-Class Honours)
    • 63-74% is considered comparable to a UK 2:2 (Lower Second-Class Honours)

    MSc Animation & VFX graduates have gone on to have successful careers in the animation, VFX and games industries in roles such as:

    • animator
    • VFX artist
    • concept artist
    • compositor
    • production manager
    • 3D generalist
    • technical director

    Graduates have also gone on to study for a PhD or to work in education.
